Statement: 

Tourism is now one of the world’s largest industries and one of its fastest growing economic sectors. For many states tourism is seen as a main instrument for regional development, as it stimulates new economic activities. Tourism increase shows an increasing importance to recreation and leisure. 

 

Tourism is mainly a private-sector enterprise, but the timely provision of hotel and other visitor services, such as entertainment, food, and sport facilities, requires public-sector participation in the form of infrastructure, promotional support, and fiscal and financial incentives.

 

Recommended Policies

  1. Encourage and participate in coordinated efforts to promote tourism on a countywide basis

  2. Promote the natural capital (key natural resources, such as its timberlands, elevation / topography, lakes, and waterways) of Trinity County 

    1. Agricultural tourism 

    2. Environmental tourism (hiking/ camping/ site seeing) 

  3. Develop incentives to increase the average length of stay

  4. Promote tourism infrastructure 

    1. Wayfinding signs 

    2. Maps and pamphlets for tourist attractions

    3. Banners promoting upcoming local events

  5. Provide support for vitalization of cottage industries, particularly those based on specialized use of local natural resources, including home occupations and direct marketing of agricultural products

  6. Increase opportunities for Visitors to ‘stay connected’ by ensuring adequate internet infrastructure is in place at popular tourist destinations

  7. Develop digital resources to help advertise Tourist destinations

  8. Market community events to regional colleges and universities to engage current students.
